Irene Ackerman

Irene Ann Ackerman, 85, of Roosevelt Drive, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2024, at Dawn Hill Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of Frank Edward Ackerman.

Born in Warren, Rhode Island, Irene was the daughter of the late Manuel Silva and Mary (Medeiros) Silva. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Shirley Louise Ackerman, Jeanine Elizabeth Ackerman, Renee Lynn Ackerman, and Brian David Ackerman; and her grandchildren: Colton Zachary Ackerman, Jordan Faith Ackerman, and Michael Frank Ackerman. She was the sister of the late Manuel Silva Jr. and Alfred Silva.

Irene was raised in Warren, Rhode Island, where she spent her childhood at Mary’s Fruit Stand, her parents’ home, and local farm business. She graduated from Warren High School and became the first to graduate in her family with an Associate’s degree from Bryant College. She made a career as a secretary for accounting at Raytheon Company for 20 years before retiring. She was an avid reader and a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox. Irene, a parish member of St. Elizabeth’s Church for over 50 years, was a proud lector and member of the church choir. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and daughter, Irene will be greatly missed.
