Rita M. Almeida, 96, formerly of Mason Avenue, passed away on March 7, 2024, at Silver Creek Manor. She was the wife of the late Benjamin S.
Almeida. Born in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Marion (Souza) Perry. She is survived by her children: Ann Marie (Rick) Clarkson of Bristol, and Anthony “Tony” Almeida of Barrington; beloved grandchildren: Bryan (Sarah Jacobs) Clarkson, Bradley Clarkson, Benjamin (Apryl) Clarkson, Bret “Bo” (Alexa) Clarkson, and Tyler Almeida; and great grandchildren August “Gus” Clarkson, Zoe Clarkson, Charlotte Clarkson, Dexter Clarkson, and Aubrey Clarkson.
Mrs. Almeida was preceded in death by her siblings: Edward Perry, Alfred Perry, Theresa Amaral, Veronica Schmeller, and Bea Seavey.
Rita was a 1945 graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Bristol, where she played the trumpet in the band. Throughout the years, she thoroughly enjoyed travelling and going dancing with her husband Benny and the Almeida family, as well as with their friends the Botelhos and “Moco” and Alice Silvia. “Auntie Rita” loved her many nieces and nephews and appreciated the attention and care of backyard niece, Debbie Schmeller. Mrs. Almeida was employed as a clerk for Barrington College from 1966 to 1979.
Deacon Paul Bisbano will be officiating private graveside services. An invitation to a celebration of her life with family and friends will follow committal on Tuesday, March 12th, 1 PM at DeWolf Tavern, 259 Thames Street, Bristol, RI 02809. At the family's request: please no flowers, no donations.
