John F. Costa, 82, of Bristol, passed away on October 5, 2019 with his loving wife by his side.
Born is Furnas, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Joao and Isabel (Furtado) Costa. He is survived by his wife M. Amelia (Silva) Costa and daughters Elizabeth Danielson (David), Linda Gablinske (Wayne), and Melanie Cambra (Jonathan). He was predeceased by his beloved son, John Thomas Costa, and sisters Piadid Tavares and Connie Canario. In addition to his wife and daughters, he leaves behind eight grandchildren, Courtney Moody (Charles), Jocelyn Danielson, Victoria Danielson, Natasha Medeiros, John Thomas Medeiros, Hailey Gablinske, Zoe Cambra, Cody Cambra and one great grandchild, Connor Moody. He also leaves behind his sisters Teresa Mello, Dorothy Champigny, Fatima Medeiros and brothers Manuel Costa and Lum Costa, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Upon immigrating to the United States, John set about achieving the American Dream. He worked in the construction industry, rising to the position of Foreman at Dimeo Construction. His work with Dimeo afforded him the opportunity to travel to the Middle East as well as being part of building prominent buildings throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island. His absolute greatest joy however, was to spend time with his family.
His funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 9th, 10 AM from the George Lima Funeral Home 367 High Street with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
