Maria dasNeves (Benevides) Lima

Maria dasNeves (Benevides) Lima, 91, of River Street passed away on October 2, 2019 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the wife of the late David Sousa Lima.  

Born in Relva, St. Michael, Azores she was the daughter of the late Joao and Carolina (Germano) Benevides. She is survived by her godchildren Mary A. Almeida and Joe S. Benevides; sisters Maria Olga Almeida and Connie Pinheiro; sister-in-law Jorgina Benevides as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was the sister of the late Joao Moniz Benevides.

Mrs. Lima was educated in Portugal and the owner of the Azorean Butcher Shop for 20 years.

Calling hours are Saturday, October 5th, 9 – 10:30 AM at the George Lima Funeral Home 367 High Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
