Mary Cabral Obituary

Mary A. Cabral, 90, of Evelyn Drive passed away on January 2, 2020 at home. She was the wife of the late Joseph Cabral.

Born in Manguald, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Leonidio and Firmina (Medeiros) Cabral.  She is survived by her children Mary Linda Soderlund and her husband Stephen, Helen Cabral and Paul Cabral; grandchildren Chuck Soderlund and Lyn Soderlund and great granddaughter Sienna Soderlund.  She was the sister of the late Olympia Mottas and Laura Dansereau.

Mary was a telephone operator/receptionist for the former Dixon Corp in Bristol for 33 years and was co-owner of Cabral’s Gourmet Chicken with her late husband Joseph.

She was an avid reader, volunteering in the reading program in the Bristol School System for several years, bringing stories to life for many children.  Mary also loved doing challenging crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy.  Her favorite pastimes were going to the casino and playing bocce with the Hopeworth gang right up to 90 years of age, a testament to her dauntless spirit.

She was a fiercely independent woman who never failed to express her opinion or stand up for what she believed.  She will surely be missed by her family and friends.

Her funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 7th, 10 AM from the George Lima Funeral Home 367 High Street with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River MA.

Calling hours are Monday 4 - 7 PM.
