Angelo Carmine Palumbo

Angelo Carmine Palumbo, 86, of Violet Court, passed away on May 22, 2019 at Silver Creek Manor. He was the husband of the late Viola (Cunard) Palumbo. 

Born in Johnston, he was the son of the late Peter and Angelina (Tartaglia) Palumbo.  He is survived by his children Jane Palumbo, Richard Palumbo and Alan Palumbo and his wife Barbara.  He was the grandfather of Adam Palumbo, Richard Palumbo, Michael Palumbo, Jeffrey Palumbo, Samantha Palumbo and Sean Palumbo.

Mr. Palumbo was employed by the Town of Bristol, Department of Public Works for more than 35 years retiring in 1995.  

He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus Bristol Council 379 and the driving force behind their Annual Tootsie Roll Drive for many years.  Whether it was as a bartender in the old K of C Hall, hosting a clam boil or manning the meeting place on Fourth of July morning right into the afternoon, he was always there and didn't leave until the job was done.  He was the very first recipient of the David R. Simoes Award for Meritorious Service.

Angelo was also a long time member of the Joseph A. Abate Friday Night Bowling League and a member of La Bella Sicilia Society.   A proud supporter of the Bristol Fourth of July Committee, you could count on his car being prominently parked so he and Viola could enjoy every concert at Independence Park.

His funeral services will be held Saturday, June 1st, 9:30 AM from the George Lima Funeral Home 367 High Street with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground.
