Anthony R. Florenzano, 90, of Bristol, RI, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 12, 2023, at Miriam Hospital.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Maria A. Florenzano, and was the son of the late Andrea and Antonia Domenica Florenzano. He was also predeceased by his siblings John, Peter, Alphonse, Lucia, and Mary Bourassa.
Mr. Florenzano graduated from Colt Memorial High School in 1951, where he was a member of the Rhode Island Honor Society. That same year, he joined the Navy, and was a Korean War veteran who served in the Aviation Branch. He was stationed on the Island of Trinidad, Panama Canal Zone, and was a member of the Anti-Submarine Squadron at Quonset Point, RI, until 1955.
He worked at Premiere Thread for 34 years. He loved and enjoyed time with his family, taking them fishing, clamming, and quahogging in his boat. He was a Bristol patriot whose favorite holiday was the 4th of July Bristol Parade. He never missed a parade until he was no longer physically able to attend.
He was a loving and wise man who enjoyed sharing stories of growing up in Bristol. He is deeply loved and missed by his family and those who knew him.
Mr. Florenzano is survived by his step-daughter Mary (Louis) Correia, sister-in-law Fran Faria, cousin Madeline Capucci, and several beloved nephews and nieces.
His funeral services will be held Thursday, December 21st, 9:30 – 10:30 AM from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial and military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
