Arline M. McKenna, 86, of Bristol passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2024.
Born in Providence, the daughter of Joseph M. and Mary M. (Pelczarski) Hunt, she lived most of her adult life in Bristol. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, John F. McKenna III, and two sisters, Carol J. Gilmartin and Dorothy A. Wilson (both formerly of East Providence). She was the mother of: Robert W. McKenna and wife Donna, Gail A. Barker and husband John, Carol P. Mennucci and husband Michael, Barbara J. Costa and husband Louis, Joseph M. McKenna and wife Teresa, and John J. McKenna and wife Jennifer; grandmother of 14; and great-grandmother of 7. She is survived by her brother John J. Hunt of Warwick, RI.
Arline was a graduate of St Mary Academy Bay View class of 1955. Many people will remember her from Rogers Free Library in Bristol, Rhode Island, where she worked for over 30 years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Bristol Fire Department from its inception and served as treasurer and then president in its early years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 16, 9 – 9:30 AM from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, followed a Mass of Christian burial, celebrated at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 330 Wood Street. Burial will be private.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 15, 4-7 PM.
