Artur Rodrigues Almeida

Artur Rodrigues Almeida, 88 of Center Street passed away on April 11, 2022 at Rhode Island Hospital.  He was the husband of Maria Leonor (da Silva) Almeida.  

Born in Arrifes, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Joao Carvalho de Almeida and Ermelinda DaPonte Rodrigues.  He is survived by his children: Joao Almeida and his girlfriend Paula; Paulo Almeida and his wife Tammy; Emanuel “Manny” Almeida and his wife Sandra; Luis Almeida and his girlfriend Linda; Susana Almeida, Patricia Medeiros and her husband Robert and Maria Pacheco and her husband Marco.  He was the grandfather of Joseph Almeida, Kelly Almeida, Makayla Almeida, Crystal Almeida, Kiahna Almeida, Kylie Almeida, Alysia Almeida, Tessa Almeida, Jacqueline Medeiros, Madison Pacheco, Marissa Pacheco and the late Mackenzie Pacheco; and great grandfather of Jada Almeida, Nevaeh Skye Luciano, Harmony Luciano, Sebastian Almeida, Anthony Correia, Nikko Baskin Jr, Alexander Amaya, Lumyn Lumsford, and Daphne Lumsford.  He was the brother of Joao Almeida, Leonilde Andrade and Jose Almeida.

Mr. Almeida was a self-employed painter for 10 years and also worked for Anthony Nunes Construction for 20 years before retiring.

Calling hours will be held Monday, April 18th, 8:30 – 10:30 AM at the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
