David Manuel Francis, 84, of Metacom Avenue passed away on January 27, 2020 at Silver Creek. He was the husband of the late Genevieve (Marino) Francis.
A lifelong resident of Bristol, he was the son of the late John and Maria (Santo Pacheco) Francis. Mr. Francis attended Bristol Schools and was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He was a heavy equipment operator and member of the Operating Engineers Local 57 working with various RI construction firms. Mr. Francis and his wife were co-owners of Bay Towers Nursing Center in Providence where he served as Superintendent of Buildings for 25 years. He served in the US Army from 1957 – 1959 and was a member of the both the Bristol and RI State Fraternal Order of Police.
Mr. Francis leaves behind his sons David (Debra) Francis of Topsham, Maine and Matthew (Lisa) Francis of Bristol as well as many great and great great nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of Mitchell, Jake and Zack Francis of Bristol, Tyler Francis of Warwick and step granddaughter Jacqueline Nizer of Topsham, Maine. He was preceded in death by his son John (Jay) Anthony Francis. He was the brother of Joseph Francis and Rita Crabtree both of Bristol and the late John Francis, Daniel Francis, Margo Craig, Veronica Travers and Elizabeth Aguiar.
His funeral services will be held Saturday, February 1st, 10:30 AM from the George Lima Funeral Home 367 High Street with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:30 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 141 State Street. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
