David Mattos Obituary

In Loving Memory of David Mark Mattos

      1962-2026

A lifelong resident of Bristol, Rhode Island, David was born in 1962 to Anthony Alexander Mattos, a WWII veteran and pattern administrator with the Bristol Manufacturing Corporation (and, later, Converse Shoe Company), and Lorraine Mattos, a homemaker and vision care assistant.

He is survived by his beloved siblings, Jane Centazzo (and husband Butch) and Cynthia Owens; his nephew, Michael Hoffman (and wife, Jody); and great nephew, AJ Hoffman.

David graduated from Bristol Junior-Senior High School; earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Roger Williams University; and was proudly employed by the Rhode Island Department of Education, working in its finance department for nearly 30 years.

He was a fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox, and he was well known for his kindness, love of family, and indomitable spirit.

The family is very thankful for the compassionate efforts and care given by the Bristol EMS and Rescue Squad workers, as well as the physicians and nursing staff at Rhode Island Hospital.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, October 5, 10 AM at St. Elizabeth's Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol RI 02809. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Calling hours are Sunday, 4 - 6 PM, from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street.

David is missed beyond words and measure and will remain forever in our hearts.

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord... and who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him.  (Jeremiah 17:7-8 ESV) (James 1:12 ESV).

In lie of flowers, memorial donations may be made in David's name to: Bristol Fire and Emergency Services, PO Box 775, Bristol, RI 02809.
