Dolores "Lolly" (Longo) Calenda Seddon, 88, of Parker Avenue, Warren, RI and also Seminole, Florida passed away peacefully on March 1, 2022 at the Dawn Hill Home for Healthcare & Rehab. She was the wife of the late Vincent Calenda Jr. and the late John Seddon.
Born in Providence RI, she was the daughter of the late Louis Emilio and Ida (Ferrazzano) Longo and stepdaughter of the late Peter Louis DeRensis. Lolly was the mother of Vincent P. Calenda (Debbie); James A. Calenda (Ginny); Steven P. Calenda (Laura) and the late Robert A. Calenda. She was the grandmother of Gina (Calenda) Gruttadauria (Robert); Jamie (Calenda) O'Kelly (Ryan); Peter Calenda (Alexandra); Alexander Calenda; Alli (Boyle) Zagura (Zach); and Nicholas Calenda. Great-Grandmother of Grayson, Theodore, Koby, Gabrielle, Leah, Lilly and Grace.
Lolly was a graduate of Bay View Academy, Class of 1950 and served as Class President. She followed her calling as a nurse and graduated from the Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1954. Lolly worked at Rhode Island Hospital for many years and then went on as the Director of Nursing for Desilets Nursing Home as well as the Grace Barker Nursing Home before retiring in 1996. She was well known in the medical field as "Mrs. C". She fully enjoyed 20 plus years of retirement in Seminole, Florida where she was the President of the Condo Association. Lolly was an avid reader. You could often find her at the beach or pool sunbathing (glistening in baby oil) with her nose in a good book. She loved to shop and enjoyed country line dancing. She will be known and missed as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 9:30 AM in St. Mary's of the Bay, 645 Main Street, Warren, RI.
Burial will be private and visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lolly's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
