Dorothy V. Cabral, 94, of Franklin Court, passed away October 3rd, 2023 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center. Dorothy was the wife of the late Aristides (Steve) Cabral of Bristol, RI. She is survived by her children: Debra Sullo of Bristol, RI, Jeff Cabral of Winchester, MA, and her sister Carol (Schmitt) Heron of Coventry, RI. She was the grandmother of Dustin (Caitlin Oviedo) Sullo, and the great-grandmother of Gianna Sullo. She was the godmother of Kim Heron of Coventry, RI, Bernadette (Schmitt) Miller of Warwick, RI and Linda Soares of Pawtucket, RI. She was predeceased by her daughter Lynn Cabral, sister Barbara (Schmitt) Soares, brother John Schmitt, her son-in-law Louis Sullo, and daughter-in-law Mary (Connolly) Cabral.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late John Schmitt and Amelia (Kutniewski) Schmitt. Dorothy was a Bristol native for over 60 years, formerly of Providence and Warwick, RI.
Dorothy was the former owner of Debi & Lynn Hair Salon in Barrington, RI. After that she was a frequent customer at the Caboret Salon in Bristol, RI, owned by her niece Annalee (Silva) Tavares. She was a former employee of Country Club Cleaners in Warren, RI. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality of St. Elizabeth’s Church, active in all church activities. She was also active in community functions at Franklin Court in Bristol, RI, an active member of the Daughters of Isabella and Nocturnal Society in RI, and a member at the Columbian Fathers in Bristol, RI. She enjoyed bingo, cards, and taking pictures at family outings. She especially enjoyed family luncheons and dinners at the former Country Inn (now Palmer River Grill) in Warren, RI, The Lobster Pot in Bristol, RI, and Aidan’s Irish Pub in Bristol, RI.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 17th from 4pm – 7pm, and November 18th from 9:00am – 10:30am at the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, Bristol, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Steet, Bristol, RI.
