Edith (Goulart) August, 89, of Butterworth Avenue, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of the late Theodore Joseph August Jr.
Born in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Joseph G. Goulart and Mary (Cabral) Goulart. She is survived by her children: Theodore August III and his wife Donna, Donald August and his wife Robin, both of Bristol, and Brian August and his wife Filomena of West Warwick; grandchildren: Theodore J. August IV, Alexandra Levesque, Melissa Lull, Donald August Jr., Jonathan August, and Tiffany Morales; and great-grandchildren: Raymond Levesque IV, Charles Louis August, Skylah Tanksley, Charlotte August, and Savannah Romiza. Edith is also survived by her brother Robert Goulart of Bristol.
She was predeceased by her siblings: Ferminia Capriccio, Joseph Goulart, Mary Morris, Raymond Goulart, Lawrence Goulart, and Frances Coelho.
Edith attended Bristol schools. Her primary interest was her family and her home. She was the consummate homemaker. She enjoyed listening to and singing Country Western and Popular Music. She also worked many years at the American Tourist Luggage Company and the R.J. Manufacturing Company, both in Warren.
Edith’s family would like to thank the staff at Crestwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their patience, compassion, and care.
Her funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 10 – 10:30 AM from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Calling hours are Friday, July 25, 4 – 8 PM.
