Eduardo S. Furtado

Eduardo San Bento Furtado, 91, passed away on April 25, 2026, at Warren Center after a brief stay. He was the husband of Sara (Rego) Furtado for 64 wonderful years.

Born in Ponta Delgada, Saint Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Amancio D. and Maria do Carmo (San Bento) Furtado. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters: Maria Grace Furtado of North Providence, and Dr. Margaret Furtado, a physician at Bristol Medical Center, of Riverside, and his sister Maria Fatima of Lisbon, Portugal. He also has many additional family members in both the Azores and Lisbon.  He was predeceased by his older brother, George Furtado.

Mr. Furtado was educated in Portugal, and owned his own insurance agency in Saint Michael, Azores, before emigrating to the United States with his wife and two daughters. He was employed and had an amazing career in sales for 37 years, both for Crocker Ford and then later, Tasca Lincoln-Mercury. 

 He developed quite a following throughout his career, serving two and sometimes three generations of clients.  He spoke Portuguese and Spanish as well as English, and he was beloved for his caring nature, professionalism, and sense of humor.  He was always available for his family and never turned down a chance to take Margaret to the library while she was studying for her medical board exams.

He loved walking the beaches of Rhode Island and Florida with his wife, Sara, and his secret pleasure was petting one of his sweet cats, Charlotte.

Funeral services will be announced at a later date.
