Edward Babyak Obituary

Edward Eugene Babyak Jr. “Ned”, 73, of Fales Road, Bristol, RI passed away suddenly on December 1, 2021 at Rhode Island Hospital.  He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline Denise (Taylor) Babyak.

Born in Troy, Ned was the son of Edward E Babyak Sr. and Marion (Hoffman) Babyak.  He is survived by his son Edward E. Babyak III “Ned” (Carinna) of Mansfield, MA; his daughter Gretchen (Tom) Hayes and their children Caroline and Thomas Jr. of Wilton, CT.  He is also survived by his sister Gretchen LaFleur of Troy, NY, and brother Carey (Nancy) of Seabrook, NH as well as his brother-in-law and friend Jason Taylor (Karen) of Brunswick, NY and many nieces and nephews.

Ned graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1966 where he excelled at baseball, captained the football team and was the president of the ski team. One of his proudest moments was being inducted into the CCHS Sports Hall of Fame.

Ned then went on to The College of the Holy Cross where he received a full scholarship and was part of the NROTC program. He continued to shine at baseball to the point where he was scouted by the St. Louis Cardinals. He also found a new sport to love, rugby.

Upon graduation he was commissioned as an Ensign and travelled the world for 6 years during the Viet Nam era as a Lieutenant and a Navigator.   After he returned, he received an MBA from Western New England College. Ned then built a successful career as a Procurement Manager for several defense contractors across many US states. He retired from Raytheon in Portsmouth, RI.

Ned was a devoted husband and father whose greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He loved nothing more than a good party with family and friends.
