Edward Faria Obituary

Edward R. Faria, 82, of Bristol, Rhode Island, formerly of Somerset, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Charlene A. (Daghir) Faria, to whom he was deeply committed and dedicated to for 57 years. Together, they shared a beautiful life filled with overwhelming love and constant joy.

Born in St. Michael, Azores, Edward was the son of the late Lionel and Laurinda (Raposo) Faria. After graduating from B.M.C. Durfee High School in 1963, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force. His time in the military was a point of great pride for Edward, and he remained a passionate advocate and supporter of veteran programs throughout his life. Following his military service, he attended Fisher College before embarking on a career with Delta Air Lines, where he dedicated 30 years of loyal service.

Above all else, family was paramount to Edward. He was a caring and generous man who would willingly do anything to help anyone in need. A hardworking man throughout his entire life, Edward took great pride in providing for and supporting his family. Having come from humble beginnings, he understood the value of hard work, perseverance and sacrifice; he carried those values with him throughout his life. His work ethic was a reflection of the love and dedication he had for his family and he could always be counted on to be there when they needed him.

Known for his friendly nature, easygoing personality and love of having a good time, Edward had a way of making those around him feel welcome and at ease. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones and took particular joy in being a grandfather. His grandchildren held a very special place in his heart and he treasured the time he spent with them, creating memories that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

Edward was a man who enjoyed staying busy and making the most out of life. He had a natural curiosity, loved learning, tinkering and trying new things. His many hobbies included boating, fishing, gardening, bird watching, flying drones and remote-controlled planes, as well as occasionally trying his luck at the casino. Edward enjoyed time with family and friends and found happiness in the everyday moments. He was the kind of person who enjoyed a good laugh, a good story and good company. His warmth, generosity, strong work ethic and devotion to his family were at the heart of who he was. Edward will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his beloved wife, Charlene, Edward is survived by his daughters, Kristen Placido and her husband, Arthur, of Bristol, Rhode Island and Beth Faria of Somerset, Massachusetts; his cherished grandchildren, Kayla Placido, Alexa Placido, Madison Jasse and Maya Jasse; his sister, Gloria Gautieri of Providence and his sister-in-law Barbara Faria. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Faria.
