Edward Jernigan Obituary

Edward Lee Jernigan, 88, of Kingswood Road passed away on September 25, 2020 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of Beverly (Traphogan) Jernigan and the late Lorraine (Silveira) Jernigan.

Born in Brewton, Alabama, he was the son of the late Edward and Georgiana (Burnham) Jernigan.  He is survived by his children Edward Jernigan and his wife Maureen of Warwick, Mary Traynor and her husband David of Swansea and stepchildren Ronald Costa of Ohio, Wayne Costa and his wife Nicole of Florida and Barry Costa and his wife Cathy of Warren.  He was the grandfather of Elizabeth Jones, Michel Beliard, Celina Moon, and great grandfather of Colton Jones, Alexandria Beliard, Hannah Beliard, Carter Moon and Cora Moon.  He was the brother of James Jernigan and the late Gladys Black, Recie Jernigan and John Jernigan.

Mr. Jernigan was educated in Alabama and served in the US Navy during the Korean War.  He was employed by Roger Williams University for 30 years before retiring.  He was a former member of the Bristol BPOE 1860 Elks, social member of the BFD Everyready E-2 and was chosen as a host for the Holy Ghost Feast at St. Elizabeth's Chruch.

His funeral services will be held Friday, October 2nd, 9 AM from the George Lima Funeral Home 367 High Street with a Funeral Service 10 AM at Faith Christian Center, 95 Sagamore Road, Seekonk MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bristol .

Calling hours are Thursday 4 – 8 PM.

Mask use is required and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
