Elsie Cabral Correia Obituary

Elsie (Sousa) Cabral Correia, 97, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2020 at Silver Creek Manor.  She was a loving mother and dedicated wife to her late husbands William Cabral and Linden Correia.  She had an incredible passion for life, always on the go, but nothing made her happier than to share her favorite classic dishes with family and friends.

Born in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Medeiros) Sousa.  She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Sousa (wife Anna) as well as her sisters Mary Silvia (husband Gene) and Almerinda Coute Silvia (husbands John Coute and Albert Silvia).  Elsie is survived by her brother John Sousa (wife Helen) and her children William Cabral Jr. (wife Nancy) and Jeanne (Cabral) Ramos (husband Robert).  Elsie was the loving grandmother to William III, Kerry, Paul, Courtney, and Jane.  She was the stepmother to Sandra and Nancy Correia and grandmother to their children Christopher, Lee J., Mary Beth, Anthony, and Tom.  She was adored by her many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and nearly everyone that had the privilege to know her love and consideration.

Upon retiring from Raytheon, she turned her focus to caring for those she loved.  A daily exercise routine and pride in putting on her best self attest to her longevity.  She was the most fulfilled when her house was full of laughs, food, friends and family.  Elsie was a lifelong parishioner of St. Elizabeth’s Church and a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality.  She was very spiritual and her prayers were always for the good health of her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed telling stories of days past.  Her laugh was infectious and her energy unmatched.  All those that had the privilege to know her will forever feel her influence and love.

The family would like to thank the staff at Benjamin Church Manor and Silver Creek Manor for the care they gave Elsie, making her final years both happy and comfortable.

Due to the pandemic, funeral services were private.  A Celebration of Life will be held later next year in her honor.

In lieu, donations may be made to the East Bay Food Pantry, 532 Wood Street, Bristol RI 02809 – www.EastBayFoodPantry.org
