Esmeralda (Loras) Borges

Esmeralda (Loras) Borges, 82, formerly of Rosedale Avenue passed away on October 11, 2022 at Silver Creek Nursing & Rehabilitation.  She was the wife of the late Joao Borges.  

Born in Povacao, St. Michael, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Furtado and Maria da Gloria (Camara) Loras. She was the mother of Carlos (Janice) Borges, Richard (Lisa) Borges, Thomas (Linda) Borges and the late Mario Borges and John Manuel Borges.  She was the grandmother of Nicole Borges, Stephanie Borges, April Gill, Chelsea Burke, Karen Borges, Lauren Borges, Matthew Borges, Michael Mowry and Miranda Mowry and great grandmother of Joseph Burke, Aria Dwyer, Wyatt Devoy and Cody Devoy.  She was the sister of Veneranda Maia and the late David Loras and Maria Hortencia Furtado.

Mrs. Borges was educated in Portugal and employed by Converse and I. Shalom before retiring.

Her funeral services will be held Friday, October 14th, 10 AM from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
