Evelyn M. (Espinosa) LaRoche, 95, of Bradford Street passed away on July 21, 2022 at Miriam Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Norman A. LaRoche. Born in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Mary (Faria) Espinosa. She is survived by her children: Diane Selwyn and her husband Mark of Exeter, Ann Marie LaRoche of Bristol, Nancy Caruso and her husband Paul of Bristol, and Gaetano LaRoche of Ft. Wayne IN, 9 grandchildren: Monica Selwyn and her boyfriend Edward Hazard Sr., Joseph Selwyn, Allison Andre and her husband Nicholas, Michael Borges and his fiancé Allison Demelo, Carolyn Caruso, Catherine Caruso, Christina Caruso, Anya LaRoche, and Sophia LaRoche, 5 great grandchildren: Jaeden Sampson, Justin Sampson, Edward Hazard Jr., Mylah Borges, and Michael Borges Jr. She was the mother of the late Antonio N. LaRoche, sister of the late Mary LeBrun, Adeline Lawrence Saulnier, Beatrice Cirillo and Louise Bertrand.
A true native Bristolian she was involved in charitable and community organizations in town. Evelyn held several offices for the Disabled American Veterans and Women’s Auxiliary, working alongside her late husband. She also held the office of secretary and treasurer for the Harbor Lights and Benjamin Church senior groups. As a member of St. Elizabeth’s Church her entire life, she was an active participant throughout the years. She graduated from Colt Memorial High school in 1945 and has attended her class reunions. The joy of her life was raising her five children and spending time with her grandchildren. Evelyn showed strength and integrity in everything she did. Her smile and gentle nature were inspiring. She was employed by Kaiser, Converse, the Five & Ten on Hope Street and retired after 20 years with Premier Thread Co.
Her funeral services will be held Monday, July 25th, 10 AM from the George Lima Funeral Home 367 High Street with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
