Fr. Richard L. Pankratz, 78, of Ferry Road, passed away on October 25, 2025, at Dawn Hill Rehabilitation Center.

Born on March 7, 1947, in Marshfield, Wisconsin. He was the son of Raymond J. and Margaret M. (Fischer) Pankratz. He is survived by his siblings: Audrey Hazen of Mill Valley, CA, Robert Pankratz of Salem, OR, Jean DeNuccio of Wausau, WI, Tom Pankratz of Harshaw, WI, Gordon Pankratz of La Crosse, WI, Barbara Knauf of Coon Rapids, MN, John Pankratz of Billings, MT, and Connie Dieringer of Harshaw, WI; many nieces and nephews; and his fellow clergymen and friends of the Columban Fathers.

He studied for the missionary priesthood with the Columban Fathers. His ordination was on June 8, 1974, at Our Lady of Peace Church, Marshfield, Wisconsin by Most Rev. Fredrick W. Freking, Bishop of La Crosse.

Fr. Richard served in Mindanao, Philippines in parish ministry, vocation promotion, and leadership. He was dedicated to serving parishioners in far-flung barrios and those on the margins, particularly the deaf. His exuberant and life-giving spirit marked the way he approached the joys and challenges he encountered. Unfortunately, after years on mission, he suffered a stroke. He returned to the United States in need of nursing care. He tried his best in coping with his newfound limitations. He now rests in the peace of his loving savior.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 9 AM at the Columban Fathers Chapel, 65 Ferry Road. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 3, 9 AM at Our Lady of Peace Parish, 1414 West Fifth Street, Marshfield, WI 54449. A Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 11 AM.
