Genevieve Helen (Silva) Souza

Genevieve H. (Silva) Souza, 86, of Fatima Drive passed away on March 25, 2023 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center.  She was the wife of the late Frank Souza Jr.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert Silva and Helen (Coelho) Cardoza, and step-daughter of the late Philip Cardoza.  She is survived by her children: Robert (Michelle) Souza of Rehoboth MA; Ronald (Donna) Souza of Fort Meyers FL; Lisa (Paul) Fisher of Portsmouth RI; and Steven (Lori) Souza of East Providence RI; grandchildren: Tammie Luther, Ryan (Rachel) Souza, Nichole (Kaiden) Ramsey, Jared (Lauren) Souza, Brittney Fisher, Jacob Fisher, Zachary Souza, Hailey Souza, and Cameron Souza; great grandchildren: Dillon Luther, Tristan Abbott, Teagan Souza and Fynlee Souza.

Mrs. Souza was a graduate of St. Catherine Academy in Newport and received her Associate’s Degree from Diocese of Providence Catechist School. She was employed as the Coordinator for Religious Education for Diocese of Providence for over 30 years before retiring and was the director of religious education at St. Elizabeth’s Church in Bristol and St. Thomas Parish in Warren. Mrs. Souza was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality.
  
Her funeral services will be held Thursday, March 30th, 10 AM from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Calling hours are Wednesday, 4 – 7 PM.
