Gil Amaral Obituary

Gil DeMelo Amaral, 90, of Westwood Road passed away on August 28, 2020 at home.  He was the husband of the late Zelia (Borges) Amaral.

Born in Povacao, St. Michael, he was the son of the late Joao deMelo Amaral and Francelina (Pimentel) Amaral.  He was the father of Lucy (Joe) DaSilva, Gil (Marie) Amaral, Lubella Amaral, Donald (Sherry) Amaral, Tony (Holly) Amaral, Dorothy (Hector) Valenzuela and the late John C. Amaral.  He is also survived by his daughter in law Elsa Amaral-Ribeiro.  He was the grandfather of David DaSilva, Joseph DaSilva, Sarah DaSilva, Jennifer Amaral, Kristine Amaral, Derek Vieira, Chelsea Vieira, Joshua Amaral, Shawn Amaral, Brian Amaral, Meghan Franco, Shana Grundy, Kyle Valenzuela, Kevin Amaral, Melissa Messier and great grandfather of Calvin DaSilva, Malcolm DaSilva, Jordan DaSilva and Olivia DaSilva, Mason Fleury, Aiden Braga, Paisley Amaral, Zoey Amaral, Alannah Amaral, Dylan Amaral, Paige Messier and Jaxon Franco.  He was the brother of Rosa Maria Amaral, Joao Amaral, Fatima Cabral and the late Virginio Pimental Amaral.

Mr. Amaral was employed by Converse and Robin Rug before retiring.

Calling hours are Tuesday, September 1st, 8:30 – 10:30 AM at the George Lima Funeral Home 367 High Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Mask use is required and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
