Gilberto Goncalves Costa, 78, of Jane Lane passed away on December 21, 2022, at Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of Conceicao (Silva) Costa.
Born in São Bras, São Miguel, Azores, he was the son of the late Anibal Costa Afonso and the late Amelia Goncalves Reis. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Gilberto S. Costa of Bristol RI and Graca S. Costa-Hanson of North Reading MA; grandchildren Anibal Costa, Oscar Costa, Grant Hanson, Shane Hanson, Olivia Hanson, and Brooke Hanson. He was the brother of Idalina (Jose) Eduardo, the late Maria Amelia Monte (brother-in-law Manuel Monte), the late Anibal Costa (sister-in-law Eduarda Costa), and the late Clementina Costa.
Mr. Costa was educated in Portugal and self-employed as the owner and operator of Gilbert’s Jewelers for 42 years before retiring.
His funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022, 10AM from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Calling hours are Tuesday, 4 – 8 PM.
