Gilda Louro, 100, of Bristol, passed away on August 20, 2025, at Dawn Hill. She was the wife of the late Jose J. Botelho.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Simao and Maria Eugenia (da Silva) Louro. She is survived by her children: Zelia (the late Francisco) Garcia of Bristol, Gilda (John) Cordeiro of Bristol, Rosa (the late Agostinho) Paiva of Warren, John (Theresa) Botelho of Fall River, and Lee (Ron Krupinski) Terra of Bristol; grandchildren: Joe, Rosemary, Sandra, Paul, Melissa, Jesse, Lenny, Stephanie, Johnathan, Mark, Jennifer, and Eric; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her siblings: Conceicão Gomes and João Louro.
Mrs. Louro was educated in Portugal. She was employed by Converse for over 20 years. Mrs. Louro enjoyed crotchet and knitting. She was a devout parishioner and prayed the rosary every single day. She was a former member of the Holy Ghost United Brotherhood of St. Elizabeth’s Church.
Mrs. Louro’s family would like to thank the staff at Dawn Hill Rehabilitation & Healthcare for their patience, compassion, and kindness in their dedication to her care.
Her funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 8:30 – 9:30 AM from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
