Harold Demopulos Obituary

Harold W. Demopulos, of Bristol, passed away on September 16, 2024, at the Rhode Island Veterans Home. He was the husband of the late Frances (Scorzoni) Demopulos.

Harold was the son of the late George K. and Grace (Loures) Demopulos. He lived in Rhode Island for 100 years. Harold took great joy and pride in that. He was also proud of his Greek heritage and his membership at St. Spyridon’s Greek Orthodox church in Newport; his Army service in Europe during World War II; his over fifty years practicing law in downtown Providence; celebrating the 4th of July parade in Bristol with lifelong friends; and his alma mater, Brown University. Harold spent decades every Fall at Brown Stadium with his late, dear friend Jack Linnell, in seats at the fifty-yard line, cheering on the Bears and hoping for a win.

In addition to his wife and parents, Harold was predeceased by his siblings: Constantine G. Demopulos, MD; Georgette Martins; and Joan Latos. Harold is survived by his daughters Amelia and Abigail Demopulos; son-in-law Bismarck Myrick. Jr.; grandchildren Malcolm and Meredith Myrick; sister-in-law Tina Demopulos; first cousin George Petropoulos, with whom he lived and dined at the Rhode Island Veterans Home in his last years, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to: the Rhode Island Veterans Home, 480 Metacom Avenue, Bristol, RI 02809; or to: St. Spyridon’s Greek Orthodox Church, 390 Thames St. Newport, RI 02840. His family is very grateful to the staff at the Veterans Home for their excellent care, patience, and kindness during Harold’s years there. Their dedication comforted him, and it comforted us.

Private funeral services were held on September 19, 2024.
