James B. Lima, 90, of Magnolia Street, passed away on December 22, 2024, at home surrounded by family. He was the husband of the late Mary C. (Silvia) Lima.

Born in Ribeira Grande, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of Joao M. and Ermina S. (Botelho) Lima. He is survived by: his son Richard (Nikki) Tavares of Bristol, daughter in law Judi Tavares of Tiverton, brother Joao Lima of Canada; grandchildren: Dawn (Scott) Ahrendt, Miki (Scott) Toner, Ellie Tavares, Jill (David) Fox, Mary Beth Tavares, Richard Tavares, Jr., and Katie Tavares; great-grandchildren: Matthew Ahrendt, Courtney (David) Perry, Brady Toner, Kyle Carney, Jackson Fox, Nolan Fox, Xavier Fox, Shea Fox, and Walker Louchen.

He was predeceased by his son Francis “Frankie” Tavares, his granddaughter Anita Halko and siblings Eduarda Medeiros, Luis Lima, Jose Lima, Henrique Lima, and Estrella Caetano.

Mr. Lima was educated in Portugal. He was a cook in the Portuguese Air Force. He worked in wire manufacturing at Kaiser, and later at Salve Regina for 10 years before retiring. Mr. Lima was a member of the Holy Ghost Committee at St. Elizabeth’s Church in Bristol, RI, as well as a former member of the previous Holy Name. Mr. Lima enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, and gardening.

His funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27, 9 – 10:30 AM from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
