Jerry Allen Burke, Sr. – Beloved Father & Grandfather “Papaw”
June 23, 1941 – February 14, 2023, Age 81
Jerry Allen Burke, Sr., 81, of Berry Lane passed away on February 14, 2023 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of the late Diane M. (Marshall) Burke.
Born in Johnson City, TN, he was the son of the late Curtis and Ethel (Johns) Burke. He is survived by his children: Jerry Allen Burke Jr. and his wife Susan, Keith Curtis Burke and his wife Helena, and Gregg Michael Burke; grandchildren: Curtis A. Burke, Cassie E. Burke, Cory J. Burke, Derek J. Burke, Scarlett E. Burke, and Greyson E. Burke; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Dave (Sharon) Burke and Patricia (Claude) Dykes. In addition to his parents, Mr. Burke was preceded in death by his loving wife, Diane M. Burke; his son, Derek D. Burke; his two brothers Bob Burke and Bill Burke, and a sister, Cathryn Wilcox.
Mr. Burke graduated from Happy Valley High School in Johnson City, TN. He served in Berlin, Germany with the United States Army and retired from Raytheon in Portsmouth, RI, where he was employed for many years. Mr. Burke was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Church and was a much loved coach for various Bristol Youth sports, and men’s softball. He enjoyed Bluegrass music, sports, playing cards, the New York Yankees, and spending time with his family and friends.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life held Friday, February 24, 5 – 8 PM at the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street. Burial will be private.
