February 16, 2021

Joan Kemmy Janario, 79, Bristol, RI

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend to many, Joan Kemmy Janario, 79, of Bristol, entered into eternal rest unexpectedly Tuesday February 16 at Rhode Island Hospital.

She leaves behind her long-time husband Joseph Janario of Bristol, sons David Kemmy (Tim) and Steven Kemmy (Diane) of Bristol and daughter Sharon Martino (Jay) of Warren. Affectionately known as “Grammy,” she leaves seven grandchildren, Matthew White, Kristen Harper, Ashley Harper, Tara Harper, Michael Kemmy, Brandon Kemmy and Jarrod Kemmy Eshaan. She also leaves her great-grandson whom she adored incredibly, Joseph Rodrigues. Her marriage with Joseph Janario brought his family into her life and she embraced them all. She leaves behind son Joseph Janario Jr, daughters Diane, Donna, Kathie and Karen, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Joan was born in Fall River, Massachusetts on November 10 as the only child to the late John and Mary Brown. She graduated from BMC Durfee High School and attended the Sawyer School.  She then went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from Bryant & Stratton Business College.  She was predeceased by late husband’s Michael Kemmy who passed in 1972 and Enzly “Jim” Ramsay who passed in 1985.   The extended Ramsay family was also very much a part of her life including Fred, Paul, Scott, Heather, Glenn, Bonnie, Enzly Jr. and all of their families.

She worked as a public accountant for many years in the accounting offices of Steven G. Campos and Russell J. Kellerman. She served as a cheerleading advisor for the Bristol Pop Warner football league and Bristol High School athletics. She was an active volunteer with the Bristol Little League, Bristol High athletic boosters club and the First Baptist Church where she was fondly revered for her baked breads during the annual church harvest fair. She was the rock for her family, hosting family gatherings for generations and every major holiday for decades. She loved cooking for her large family and passed those traits down to her granddaughters. Her loving and upbeat attitude and desire for everyone in the family to get ahead was what drove her every day.
