Joao Madeira Obituary
João Fernando Madeira, 59, of Easterbrooks Ave, passed away on July 28, 2024.
Born in the Azores, he was the youngest son of Antonio Jacinto Madeira and Maria da Conceicão Daponte Madeira. João is survived by: his wife, Maria Madeira of Bristol; and his daughters Andreia Madeira of Bristol and Sabrina (Ethan) Soares of Bristol. In addition to his wife and kids, he leaves far too soon his grandsons: Crew and Hunter Dallaire; and his granddaughters: Marlowe, Monroe and Monti Soares. João leaves behind siblings, nieces and nephews and countless friends who will miss him dearly.
João moved to the US in 1990 and started working at Bristol Auto Body Works as an automotive painter. João loved painting cars and easily became the family car guy whenever a car issue came up. He spent years perfecting his craft, so much so that he could even pick out which cars he painted in an entire parking lot or driving around town. João continued working throughout his treatments up until 2022.
Those who knew him were awarded with a friendship like no other. He loved making everyone laugh, whether he was the tail end of a joke or whether he did something funny. João loved his many hobbies. Fishing, gardening, all things soccer, and his farm animals were a passion of his. He spent countless hours tending to his garden even when times were tough.
João has a large hand in the Catholic Portuguese community and enjoyed spending his time giving back.
His funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 3rd, 8:30 – 9:30 AM from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 500 Metacom Avenue, Warren RI 02885. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bristol RI.
Calling hours are Friday, 4 – 8 PM.
