John Kirby, Jr. Obituary

John A. Kirby Jr., 52, of Bristol passed away suddenly while recovering from surgery at Newport Hospital on April 2, 2020.  He was surrounded by his loving family.

John was born in Providence. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 25 years  Kimberly; their three children, who were his absolute pride and joy, Nicholas, Christopher and Rhiannon Kirby all of Bristol; his loving sister Kathryn A. Kirby of Pawtucket; his beloved mother in law Jacquelyn Duckworth and brother in law William Duckworth both of Bristol.  John was also preceded in death by his beloved mother Barbara A. Kirby.  He also leaves his trusted companions Dobby, “the house cat” and his most affectionate beagle mix, Geddy “The Paw” Kirby. John will be missed by many wonderful friends both near and far especially by his lifelong best friend  Michael Silva, his wifeBecky and their daughters Kylee and Kenzie of Johnston.

John was a 1985 graduate of East Providence High School and expressed his “Townie Pride” often.  He was employed as a glaser by College Town Siding and Glass LLC in East Bridgewater, MA.  Prior to that he was a glaser at Central Glass Co of Brockton, MA.

He was a highly devoted New England sports fan and especially enjoyed attending New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox games with his sons.  Two of the highlights of John’s life were taking his son Nick to his first Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park and taking his son Christopher to his first New England Patriots football game at Gillette Stadium.

John was also a very avid music lover instilling a love for music and introducing his children to vinyl records. John enjoyed concerts, especially attending RUSH concerts throughout their 40 year career and always made attending any concert a family event.  He took great joy in taking his daughter Rhiannon to “The Garden” to see her very first concert.
