Jose Rebelo Bernardo

Jose Rebelo Bernardo 89, of Bay View Avenue passed away on January 17, 2022 at home.  He was the husband of Maria Rosaria (Medeiros) Bernardo.  

Born in Pico da Pedra, Sao Miguel, Acores, he was the son of the late Jose Bernardo Ferreira and Maria Gloria Rebelo.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Nelia Simas and her husband Emanuel of Bristol;  Joseph Bernardo and his wife Debra of Florida;  MaryLou Bernardo and Michael Terrell of New Bedford;  Marguerite Brant of Bristol;  grandchildren: Matthew Simas, Dylan Simas, Andrew Simas, Victoria Bernardo, Joseph Bernardo, Cassondra Bernardo, Ashley DeMoura, Nicholas DeMoura, Monica Rego, Veronica Rego, Jeffrey Brant, Edward Brant, Brittany Brant; and great grandchildren: Ashtyn, Bailee, Winter, Brandon Jr, Zendaya, Briella, Gabriela, and Sofia. He was the brother of Altino Ferreira, Antero Ferreira, Oldemira Moniz and the late Mario Ferreira.

Mr. Bernardo was employed by Pearson Yachts and TPI before retiring.

Funeral service will be Saturday, January 22nd, 10 AM from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground.
