Jose J. Dias, 80, of Hopeworth Avenue, passed away on June 1, 2026, at Charlton Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was the husband of Maria Fatima (Pacheco) Dias.
Born in San Jose, Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel and Maria Isabel (Pavao) Dias. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Richard Dias of Bristol, and Steven (Margo Dearborn) Dias of Bristol; and grandchildren: Cameron, Kyle, Colton, Sophia, River, Ethan, and Gabriel. He was the brother of: Florentino Dias and Carlos Dias of Toronto, Canada, Celia (Dias) Moniz, Ligia (Dias) Martin, Romana (Dias) Melo, Lucia (Dias) Medeiros, Rosa (Dias) Furtado, all of Montreal, Canada, and the late Aguinaldo Dias.
Mr. Dias was educated in Portugal and served in the Portuguese Army in Angola for 4 years. He worked at Roling, Inc. until he retired. One of Jose’s biggest accomplishments was being a great husband, father, and grandfather. Jose loved making matchstick boats and turning dollar bills into shirts. He loved riding around Colt State Park.
Always loved…forever missed…never forgotten.
His funeral services will be held on Monday, June 8, 8 – 9:30 AM from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
