Jose Silveira Peixoto

Jose Silveira Peixoto, 94 was called to The Lord, on January 4, 2021at St. Elizabeth Manor. He was the husband for 63 years of Maria Natalia (Bettencourt) Peixoto.

Born in Feteira, Horta, Faial, Azores, he was the son of the late Jose S. Peixoto and Maria da Gloria Amaral.  He is survived by his children: Mary Adams (the late David Adams) of Riverside; Olympia McCaull and her husband Bob of Portsmouth; John Peixoto of Bristol; and grandchildren Lauren Goulart and Sarah Zhang. He is also survived by his sister in law Maria da Luz Peixoto of Tiverton.  He was the father of the late Joseph Peixoto and brother of the late Manuel Peixoto, Francisco Peixoto, Joaquim Peixoto and Maria daGloria Fortuna.

Jose was first of his family to immigrate to the United States in 1962.  He became a citizen in 1967 and proudly sponsored 13 families giving them the opportunity to come to this country as well. He was a machine operator at American Tourister before retiring and was sought after for his talent pruning grapevines.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Friday January 8th,   11AM at St. Elizabeth Church 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
