Jose A. Ribeiro, 96, of Franklin Street, passed away on December 20, 2023, at Grace Barker Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Irene (Travassos) Ribeiro.  

Born in Matriz, Vila Franca do Campo, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Francisco and Rosa Ascencão (Couto) Ribeiro. He is survived by his children: Maria Jose Travassos-Ribeiro of Bristol, Gil Travassos-Ribeiro of Bristol, Manuel (Maria H.) Travassos-Ribeiro of Florida, and Daniel (Duab-Moua) Travassos-Ribeiro of Bristol; grandchildren Joshua Ribeiro, Erica Ribeiro, Nicole Perch, and Isla Ribeiro; great-grandchildren Bianca Ribeiro, Kiana Ribeiro, Tatiana Ribeiro, Joshua James Ribeiro Jr., Tripp Hachett, Chase Hachett, and Ava Perch; and siblings Norberto Couto-Ribeiro of Bristol, Maria dos Anjos Chaves of Bristol, and Almorinda Calouro of Bristol.

He was predeceased by his siblings Antonio Couto-Ribeiro, Maria Ana Medeiros, and Francisco Couto-Ribeiro.

Mr. Ribero was educated in Portugal and employed by American Tourister for 21 years before retiring. 

His funeral services will be held Friday, December 29th, 10 AM from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
