Joseph Pereira

Joseph Pereira, 90 of Portsmouth passed away on January 30, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital.  He was the husband of Maria Bella (Vianna) Pereira.  

Born in Fall River, MA, he was son of the late Manuel and Mary (Augustinho) Pereira.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Wendy Gaughan and her husband Daniel of Bristol; his sister Evelyn Correia of Fall River; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Pereira was educated in Fall River and served in the US Army during the Korean War. In 1973, he moved to Portsmouth to become manager of the Montaup Country Club where he was employed for over 27 years before his retirement.   Joe was a quiet man who loved to walk in the morning; going out to eat with family and friends; and was known to have a “sweet tooth”.  He loved to socialize and harass the members at Montaup, a place that started as a job, but became his home, extended family and heart.  We will miss you “Louie De Palma”.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a time when it is safe to gather.
