Joseph A. Soares Jr., 88, of Mt. Hope Avenue, passed away on October 10, 2023, at Newport Hospital. He was the husband of the late Leanora (Freitas) Soares.
Born in Warren, he was the son of the late Joseph and Amelia (Botelho) Soares. He is survived by his children: Patricia Phillips of Bristol, Jacqueline Soares of North Providence, and Caroline Soares (Robert Pires) of Bristol; grandchildren Lenore Gonsalves, Ashley Soares, Brittany Soares, Chelsea Soares, Dante Soares, Danica Soares-Pires, Gavin Soares-Pires, Joseph Paul Soares Jr., Stacy Domingos, Erica Pacheco, Rachel Gerhrke, Brett McCarthy, Amber McCarthy, and Kayla McCarthy; great grandchildren: Alyssa Gonsalves, Alora Gonsalves, Ayla Gonsalves, Aaliyah Soares, Delilah DeMelo, Brayden Vales, Madisyn Pacheco, L.J. Pacheco, Maddox Pacheco, Brennan Soares, and Gianna Soares. He was the brother of Richard Soares of Warren and Carol Kerwin of Seekonk, MA. Mr. Soares also leaves behind his grand-pets Obi, Deli, Heidi, Kali, Bronx, Sophie, and Kodo.
Mr. Soares was predeceased by his son Joseph Paul Soares, his daughter Lee Ann Soares, and stepmother Madeline Soares.
Mr. Soares was a graduate of Warren High School and was employed as a truck driver for Consolidated Freight, Interstate Motor Freight, and Teamsters Local 251 before retiring.
His family would like to honorably mention and thank Stacy Domingos for the time, dedication, care, and love she’s shown to Mr. Soares and his family.
