Laurenio Barbosa, 89, of Andrews Court, passed away on December 31, 2024, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Maria Sara (Martins) Barbosa.
Born in Relva,Sao Miguel, Azores, he was the son of Manuel and Maria de Conceicão (Da Silva) Barbosa. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his daughters Maria Idalina (the late Manuel) Botelho of Bristol, and Lucia (Anthony) Young of Bristol; grandchildren Jordan (Savannah), Justina (Vincent), Brian, Drayton, and Christian; great-grandchildren Izabella, Alessia, and Ellie; and brother Manuel (Conceicão) Barbosa of Bristol.
He was predeceased by his siblings: Jose Barbosa, Edalina Cordeiro, Maria de Lurdes Ferreira, Lucinda Cordeiro, Hermano Barbosa, Bento Barbosa, Joao Barbosa, and Walter Barbosa.
He was employed by Pearson Yachts in Portsmouth for over 20 years, and later by Raymond Construction as a landscaper for 10 years before retiring.
He will be remembered for his love of soccer (viva Benfica), working in his garden, going fishing, scratch tickets, working on his vineyard and most of all his love for his family.
His funeral services will be held on Monday, January 6, 8:30 – 10:30 AM from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
