Lydia Garvin Obituary

Lydia Garvin, 97, of Chestnut Street, passed away peacefully at her home on October 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

A lifelong Bristol resident, she was the daughter of the late Christy and Albertina (Borges) Travers, and was pre-deceased by her husband George Garvin, and son George Garvin Jr. Lydia was a 1945 class graduate of Colt Memorial High School and cherished spending time with her family and friends. She could often be seen on her daily trips through Bristol, especially at the State Street dock. Lydia is survived by: her daughters Gail Garvin and Susan (Michael) Proto; her niece Paula Deslauriers; her grand-dog Bentley; her devoted caregivers: Linda St. Ours, Ethan and Elijah Bland; and the numerous friends she considered family.

 Lydia was a fixture for many years at the former “Bake Master. “

Her funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 10 – 10:30 AM from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. At the request of the family, the burial will be private.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, 5 – 8 PM.
