Manuel Braga, 87, of Pearse Avenue, passed away on May 21, 2024, peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Maria Eduarda (Sousa) Braga.
Born in Villa Franca do Campo, São Miguel, Azores, he was the son of the late João and Patrocina (Valente) Braga. He is survived by: his children Joe (Kristen) Braga of East Providence, John (Deborah) Braga of Lyman, SC, Grace (David) Cordeiro of Bristol, Arthur (Helena) DeBraga of Swansea, and Sandy (Qatar Roberson) DeBraga of Bristol; grandchildren Amanda DeBraga, Brandon Braga, Melissa Moniz, Joshua Braga, Matthew Braga, Andrew Johnson, Megan Cordeiro, Jennifer Kennery, Arthur Medeiros, Timothy Medeiros, and Jalon Roberson; great-grandchildren Peyton Bailey, Conner Bailey, Isabella Scarlette Rose Paiva, Jaxton Lee DeBraga Morse, Landyn Machado Braga, Averie Moniz, Jayden Medeiros, Quinn Kennery, Aiden Kennery, Zander Medeiros, Gavin Medeiros, and Adler Madelyn Ferreira; sister Vitoria Braga Arruda of Villa Franca, Azores; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his siblings: Jose Braga, Adelina Braga Mattias, and Maria Braga Furtado.
Mr. Braga was educated in Portugal. He was enlisted in the Portuguese army and was stationed in India for four years. He was a boat builder employed by Pearson Yachts, Carrol Marine, and US Waterlines. He loved to watch Below Deck and The Real Housewives.
His funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 29th, 10 AM from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
