Manuel Simmons Tavares III Obituary

Manuel S. Tavares III, 77 of Bristol passed away June 21, 2021 at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center.  He was the husband of Elizabeth A. (Bernard) Tavares.


Born in Fall River, MA he was the son of the late Manuel Jr. and Edveis (Mello) Tavares.  In addition to his wife Elizabeth, he is survived by his daughter Aimee Tavares; son in law Christopher Langford and one grandchild Mason Langford all of Virginia.  He also leaves behind two grandchildren Jennifer Medeiros of Tiverton and Pamela Medeiros of Somerset as well as two great grandchildren Celina and Adelynn Medeiros.  He was the father of the late Peter Tavares, and the brother of the late Dorothy Texeira, and John Tavares.


Manuel worked in the maintenance department for Kaiser Aluminum for 20 years until they closed; he then worked for the RI Veterans Home for 20 years before retiring.


Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 25th at 10AM in St. Mary’s Church 330 Wood Street, Bristol.  Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7PM at the George C. Lima Funeral 367 High Street, Bristol.  Burial will be private.
