Maria Ana deCouto (Ribeiro) Medeiros

Maria Ana deCouto (Ribeiro) Medeiros, 84, of Rock Street, passed away on June 29, 2019 at Newport Hospital. She was the wife of the late Manuel Madeira Medeiros.  

Born in Villa Franca, St. Michael, she was the daughter of the late Francisco Furtado Ribeiro and Rosa Ascencao (deCouto) Ribeiro.  She is survived by her children Antonio Medeiros, Daniel Medeiros and his wife Maria, Joe Medeiros, Maria Cabral and her husband Joe, Jim Medeiros and his wife Madeline and Laudalina “Lane” Silva.  She was also the mother of the late Carlos Medeiros and John Medeiros.  In addition to her children, she is survived by her grandchildren Tony Pelletier, Daniel Medeiros, Joe Medeiros, Manuel Medeiros, Amy Parella, Jessica Cabral, Michael Medeiros, Olivia Medeiros, Emily Medeiros, Ashley Silva, Sara Silva, Briana Silva, Carlos Medeiros, Jimmy Medeiros, Wayne Medeiros, Jennifer Medeiros, Pamela Medeiros; 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.  She was the sister of Jose Ribeiro, Norbert Ribeiro, Maria Chaves, Almerinda Calouro and the late Francisco Ribeiro and Antonio Ribeiro.

Mrs. Medeiros was educated in Portugal and employed by I. Shalom before retiring.  She loved to crochet and made many blankets for her family as well as to donate to the Santo Cristo, Holy Ghost and Trinity auctions.  She loved going to the casino, watching movies, camping, sitting by the beach but most of all being with her family and friends.

Her funeral services will be held Monday, July 8th, 8 AM from the George Lima Funeral Home 367 High Street with a Mass of Christian Burial, 9 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
