Maria Ascensao (Melo) DaSilva, 88, of Jenny Lane, passed away on May 4, 2025, at home. She was the wife of the late Jose F. DaSilva.

Born in Relva, São Miguel, Azores, she was the daughter of Francisco and Dionizia (Soares) Melo. She is survived by her children: Anibal (Mary T.) DaSilva of Bristol; Joseph (Donna) DaSilva of North Dartmouth, MA., Mary Jo DaSilva of Bristol, and John (Michelle) DaSilva of Bristol; grandchildren: Robert DaSilva, Jessica (Rui) Vieira, Denise McKenna, Melanie DaSilva, and Kyle DaSilva; great-grandchildren: Dylan Soares, Christian Vieira, Rui “RJ” Vieira, Skylar Vieira, Avah, and Jocelyn; siblings: Maria Ilda (the late Manuel) De Moura of Bristol, Humberto (Manuela) DeMelo of Bristol, and Ida (Hildeberto “Gil”) DeLima of Bristol; in-laws: Manuel (Helena) DaSilva of Canada; and her good friend: Aureliana Cordeiro of Bristol.

She was pre-deceased by her brother: Jose (Maria Jose) DeMelo.

Mrs. DaSilva was educated in Portugal. She settled in Bristol in 1966 and worked in various factories such as Robin Rug, Premier Thread, and Converse for over 35 years before retiring.

Her funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 8:30 – 9:30 AM from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
