Maria Almerinda (Barbosa) Flora, 88, of Shaws Lane passed away on February 5, 2023 at Silver Creek Rehab & Healthcare.  She was the wife of the late Antonio Ponte Flora Jr.  

Born in Agua de Pau, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria de Lurdes (Medeiros) Barbosa.  She is survived by her children Helen (Frank) Aguiar, Connie (Silverio) Borges, Amanda (Ray) McCann, Alice (Manny) Galego, Carlos Flora, and Margarida (Carlos) Bettencourt.  She was the grandmother of Jennifer McKenzie, Alex Aguiar, Amy Brodd, Stacey Bisbano, Shannan Mello, Jacklyn Mello, Jocelyn Amaral, Matthew Bettencourt, Collin Bettencourt and the late Derek Galego; and great grandmother of Justin Bland, Abbigail Bland, Ethan Bland, Elijah Bland, Hope McKenzie, Landon Aguiar, Gianna Aguiar, Lincoln Aguiar, Preston Brodd, Macy Brodd, Brooke Bisbano, Bria Bisbano and Cameron Conte.  She was the sister of Edmundo Barbosa, Charlie Barbosa and the late Maria Soares, Isabela Almeida, Lurdes Barbosa, Margarida Barbosa and Jirmias Barbosa.

Mrs. Barbosa was educated in Portugal and employed by I. Shalom before retiring.  She emigrated to the United State in 1974 and was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Church.  She was devoted to attending Mass and loved to work retiring at the age of 74.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 10th, 8:30 – 10:30 AM at the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
