Maria Isabel (Medeiros) Silva, 94, formerly of Bristol, passed away on April 7, 2026, peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Luis M. Silva.
Born in Cabouco, Lagoa, São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel A. and Virginia C. (Teixeira) Medeiros. She is survived by her children: Luis Silva, Jr. and his wife Victoria of Warren, Isabel Costa and her husband Raul of Rehoboth, Theresa Diniz and her husband Joseph of Warren, and Lina Oliveira and her husband David of Warren; grandchildren: Ashley (James) Carter, Katherine (Emma) Costa, Kristine Costa, Emily (Christopher) Alves, Kassandra Costa, Nathan Silva, Jacob Silva, Sarah Oliveira, Amelia Oliveira, and Elena Oliveira; great-grandchildren: James Carter, Aurelia Carter, Joseph Carter, Ferdinand Alves, Jonathan Costa, and Molly Alves; and siblings: Inez Matos of Montreal, Canada and Alfredo Medeiros of Swansea, Massachusetts.
She was predeceased by her siblings: Manuel Medeiros, Rosalina Resendes, Joao Medeiros, Jose Medeiros, and Carlos Medeiros.
Mrs. Silva was educated in Portugal and worked at Carol Cable and R&J Jewelry for many years until her retirement. She was a member of: St. Elizabeth’s Holy Rosary Sodality, St. Elizabeth’s Holy Ghost Committee, Santo Christo Committee, Legion of Mary, and St. Elizabeth’s Prayer Group.
Her family was her pride and joy. Nothing made her happier than when everyone gathered together and she could feed everyone. She loved making Portuguese biscuits and of course sharing with her family. She was friendly and caring to all who came into her life. She had a green thumb and loved working in her flower gardens and on her plants. The beauty she helped create was a source of joy.
She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and family and enjoyed seeing new places and trying new foods. She created many memories with her family that will always be cherished.
Her funeral services will be held on Monday, April 13, 8:30 – 9:30 AM from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground.
Calling hours are Sunday, 3 – 6 PM.
