Maria da Deus Fernandes, 66, of Roma Street, passed away on December 26, 2023, at The Dawn Hill Home for Rehabilitation.  She was the wife of Jose Fernandes.

Born in Vila Franca do Capo, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Joao and Maria Jesus (Medeiros) Matias.   In addition to her husband, she is survived by: her children Anthony (Alicia) Fernandes of Tiverton, and Raquel (Jason) Ferreira of Warren; grandchildren Taylor Fernandes and Olivia Ferreira; siblings Maria do Rosario (Evaristo) Araujo of Bristol, and John (Laurie) Matias of Warren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Antonio Matias.

Mrs. Fernandes was educated in Portugal. She was employed as a Certified Nurse Assistant for over 30 years at the Warren Center and Silver Creek Nursing Home.

Her funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 2nd, 8:30 – 10:30 AM from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
