Maria Alice de Brum

Maria Alice (Pereira) de Brum, 95, formerly of Rock Street, passed away on December 28, 2024, at home. She was the wife of the late Francisco A. de Brum.

Born in Capelo, Faial, Azores, she was the daughter of Ricardo J. and Isabel R. Pereira. She is survived by: her daughter Mary Brum of Warren; her brothers Ricardo T. Pereira of Dixon, CA, and Manuel J. Pereira of Riverside; many nieces and nephews; and close family friends: Jorgina (Jorge) de Medeiros, Armanda de Medeiros, Erica de Medeiros, and Karen de Medeiros.
She was predeceased by her sisters: Adelina R. Tavares, and Laura A. Pereira.

Mrs. de Brum was educated in Portugal. She was a homemaker and ran an at-home neighborhood daycare. Maria loved to cook for family and friends and spend time in her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. In her later years, Maria enjoyed traveling with her daughter visiting all the New England states; Maine being her favorite state. Maria enjoyed her daily trips to Colt State Park to watch the sunset and see the deer.

Maria was a woman of faith devoted to the Blessed Mother. Her life was a life well lived, and she was well loved.

Her funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 9 – 10:30 AM from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
