Maria de Jesus (Avelar) Medina

Maria de Jesus (Avelar) Medina, 78, of Wood Street, passed away on January 20, 2023 at Miriam Hospital.  She was the wife of the late Mario Medina.

Born in Mosteiro Flores, Azores she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Gloria (Tenente) Avelar.  She was the mother of Lucia Costa of Bristol and the late Thelma Rodrigues.  She was the grandmother of Cierra Costa, Marisa Rodrigues, Derek Rodrigues and the great grandmother of Everly Rodrigues.

Mrs. Medina was educated in Portugal and employed at the Rhode Island Veterans Home before retiring.  She loved her pets, Tasha, Pepper and Marshmallow; reading, knitting, gardening, music and dancing.  Most of all she loved her family and her great granddaughter Everly.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday,  January 25th, 11 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Church,  577 Wood Street.  Burial will follow in North Burial Ground.
