Mary “Auntie” Mello, 94, of Duffield Road, passed away on July 26, 2025.
Born in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Arthur O. and Emma (DaPonte) Mello. She is survived by: her sister Theresa (the late Jerome) Simmons of Bristol; nieces and nephews: Jean (Robert) Bretz, Jerome (Bonnie) Simmons, John (Lynne) Simmons, James (Suzanne Aubois) Simmons, and Joseph (Sara) Simmons; great nieces and nephews: Robert, Andrew, Neal, Emma, Allie, Beth, Alex, Noah, Theodore, Charlotte, Jordan, and Cloe; and great-great niece: Brooklyn.
Mary was a 1948 graduate of Colt Memorial High School. She attended Edgewood Junior College prior to working for Dixon Industries as a secretary for 35 years before retiring. She was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth’s Church, a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality, and served as a lector. Mary had a strong love of music, and enjoyed playing piano, reading, and traveling. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family.
Her funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 9th, from 9:00–10:30 AM from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 500 Metacom Avenue, Warren, RI 02885. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
